Meet Cara

cara-photoBlessings and welcome to my website.

My journey to the sacred started in 2006 when I realized that underneath my seemingly successful life, I was in tremendous pain, but I did not know why until I took my own “Journey to the Sacred”.

I had done everything I was supposed to: graduated college with an emphasis in Anatomy/Physiology, Psychology and Chemistry, scored the corporate job at a major pharmaceutical company with great benefits, six-figure salary, bonuses, and stock options, built a beautiful custom dream home, jetted off on exotic vacations, committed to a long-term relationship, and in lieu of the required 2 ½ children, I had two adorable cats – yet I felt trapped, lost and empty inside.

At the time, I was walking the path with my partner who was experiencing advanced symptoms of multiple sclerosis. She was not responding to the medicines that were available any longer. So we started looking at alternative medicine and holistic modalities to deal with her symptoms and overall healing.

Like most people, I believed that traditional Western medical intervention – going to a doctor or hospital and taking medications– was the only way to get better. Yet with no other logical or conventional options, we took a leap of faith and decided to try alternative, holistic medicine.

This was a radical move for a good girl from a small town in Indiana, where going to a doctor was rare and any complaints of not feeling well were dismissed.

Like so many of us, I had grown up out of tune with my feelings and emotions and I had ignored my internal compass for most of my life.

As you can imagine, seeking out the help of acupuncturists, chiropractors, cranio-sacral therapists, spiritual and energy healers, let alone shamans, was most certainly unheard of growing up in Middle America!

Walking away from Western medicine and onto a path of holistic deep internal healing for both myself and my partner went hand-in-hand with walking away from my soul-less job, unfulfilling life and yes, even my relationship.

I jumped off the road of expectations and obligations and into a journey of self-discovery, healing and finding my purpose in life. It took every ounce of courage I had to look at all aspects of myself… some not so pleasant.

One night, I was woken up from a deep sleep by a voice that asked loud and clear, “What is it that you want?” It was the simplest, yet most profound question I had ever heard. I had no idea how to answer it. Where would I even begin to start? This simple question bought me a ticket on the bullet train of healing and awakening.

For the next eight years, I searched within for the answer. I traded shame, guilt, fear, addictive thoughts and behaviors for freedom, vulnerability and peace of mind. I moved away from being “good” and “polite,” from what I “should do” or “should say” to getting in touch with my own feelings, asking for and receiving help, and learning how to say “yes” when I meant “yes” and “no” when I meant “no.” I released my limited beliefs about myself and the world and reclaimed my worthiness.

My healing journey took me far and wide as I became Certified Brennan Healing Science Practitioner through a 4-year program at the world renowned Barbara Brennan School of Healing, a Reiki Master Teacher studying under William Lee Rand, ordained through One Spirit Interfaith Seminary, Shaman program and certified as a Dream Builder Coach through Life Solutions. I worked with many spiritual and healing mentors over the years and found a supportive community through Center for Spiritual Living in Raleigh, NC.

These profound and transformative experiences allowed me to get in touch with my core feelings, emotions and beliefs that I had suppressed for so long. I let go of all the pressure and expectations that I had for myself and started being true to my own wants and needs. By exploring my beliefs about myself and the world I was able to uncover the truth of who I was. By accepting my humanness, my imperfections, and learning to love myself right where I was. I was able to transform them and heal from the inside out.

Each and every one of these incredible teachers, healers and communities helped me to stop looking to the outside for love, approval, and acceptance, but rather give it freely to myself and reclaim my power on my own “Journey to the Sacred” of healing and wholeness. It’s been a profoundly life-changing journey for me and I would be honored to walk with you on your journey.

From my explorations, here’s what I know for sure:

  1. The longest journey you will ever take is from your head to your heart.
  2. The body can heal itself.
  3. You are more powerful than you realize.
  4. We are co-creators in life (e.g., health/disease, success/failures, abundance/lack, ease/struggle, relationships, etc). We create either by design or default.
  5. There is direct correlation between our thoughts, feelings, emotions, perceptions & beliefs and disease in the body.
  6. True health and happiness is an inside job. No one can give it to you.
  7. Suffering is caused by not accepting what is showing up in your life at this moment.
  8. All your life experiences have perfectly positioned you for growth, healing and wholeness if you embrace the learning’s and don’t resist them.
  9. Our life purpose is to be of genuine loving service to others.
  10. With God… ALL things are possible.
  11. Miracles are everywhere if we just look.
  12. This life is an ongoing Journey to the Sacred, and not a destination.
  13. You don’t have to go it alone. It is a strength to be able to ask for help on your journey.

What about you?

I know, with every cell of my being, that it’s time for you to awaken to vibrant health and to live a life you love! It’s time to start – or deepen,
your own “Journey to the Sacred”.

Time and time again in my practice, I see strong people like you giving your power away when searching for relief from dis-ease, cancer, pain, stress, fatigue, trauma, stuck patterns, addictions, feeling out of balance, or a lack of clarity and focus. The medical community focuses primarily on treating symptoms rather the cause of the dis-ease. I take a holistic approach to healing by working with the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of my clients. I serve as a bridge between Eastern and Western medicine and encourage my clients to integrate the work of both into their overall healing plan.

I encourage you to take charge of your own healing by following your intuition, listening to what is right for you, and asking for the help you need by putting your self-care and healing first! You must follow your heart for answers and insights to live a happy, healthy and vibrant life. You can do this!

If you resonate with my work, please to set up a complimentary 20 minute consultation. Together we can merge Western medicine with an Eastern holistic approach of balancing the mind, body and spirit.

In loving service,

~ Rev. Cara Andershock
